"سرّ الفرح"
تحت شعار"شباب اليوم هم مُسنّو الغد، ومسنّو اليوم هم شباب الماضي" توجّهنا، نحن طلاب نادي الرعاية الاجتماعيّة، إلى دار السلام، آملين أن نُلوّن لوحة قد بَهُتَت ألوانها على مرور السنين.
نظّمنا رقصات مُختلفة ووضعنا أقنعة وقبّعات مُلوّنة، وعلى أنغام صاخبة يتصاعد إيقاعها حرّكنا قلوب العجزة فنبضت شرايينهم بالأمل وشاركونا الضحك والتصفيق والتلويح، يا لها من لمسات حنونة! تنقّلنا من طاولة إلى أخرى، نُصغي ونستمع، هذه سلبها الهمّ أيّامها فاشتكت صعوبة الفراق وعدم الوصال، وذاك تملكّه المرض فتذمّر حرقة الألم وحسرة العجز....ما أجمل أن نمسك بأيديهم، أن نُحسّ بأوجاعهم، وأن نبعث في نفوسهم المحبّة والتقدير.
حانت ساعة العودة، خرجنا مُخلّفين وراءنا ضحكاتهم ورجائهم بالبقاء لفترة أطول فأخذنا العزم للعودة مرّة أخرى ومحاولة تكثيف نشاطنا بتواصل آخر يُبيّن لهم محبتنا لأنّ المحبّة لا تُعطي إلاّ نفسها ولا تأخذ إلا من نفسها، فإلى لقاء آخر...

Students' Reflections

It is said that with age comes wisdom. If that were true, and it is, then the eldest would be the wisest and the most worthy of our respect. Behind that vulnerable appearance stand the top of our chain and the roots of our origin: our elderly. And if one were to look at the equation from a different perspective, he’d notice that these same elders were once yesterday’s youth and are the reflection of who we will become years from now. It’s hard to put thoughts into words, but Bob Hope spoke truly when he said, “I'll tell you how to stay young: Hang around with older people”. When we were speechless, this quote came in handy to describe our experience on the 15th of October when we attended Dar El Salam’s celebration dedicated to highlight the glory of the elderly and disabled on their international day. The event was above and beyond our expectations! We truly got to know and learn how to have fun with each and every unique story. You see, in the end, age is just a number. Spirit, on the other hand, is eternal, and the people we’ve met have such beautiful souls that left an indelible mark inside each one of us!
