A Skype Conference with Dr. Huda Zhoghbi

2 May 2017

As part of our investigation process about neurological diseases, we had to find reliable data from an expert in the field. Living in a globally connected world, we barely struggle communication with people on remote areas as it has become easier through social media such as Skype. With the support and guidance of our teachers, Mrs. Huda Kaeen, Ms. Roweida Bawwab and Ms. Nihmat Dandashly, we had the honor to confer via Skype with Dr. Huda Zoghbi, a renowned scientist and winner of the Breakthrough Prize 2017. Within 30 minutes on Thursday, March 16, 2017, Dr. Zhoghbi was capable of responding our inquiries and providing us with additional information about the advancements in cures of many genetic disorders. Not only did she wonderfully introduce us to the curious world of science, technology, engineering, and their significance in real life, but she also reflected how her Lebanese identity has ignited the incredible work she has done, giving enormous hope to the younger generation of learners. If there is anything we are left with from this enlightening interview is that we should imagine our life as an interesting story and our genes as the sparkling letters engraved on it. Indeed, becoming a scientist is risk-taking, intriguing, and extremely noble.
